A brief history
In 1989, an accountant and two software developers saw an opportunity for customising technology to solve unique business problems that off-the-shelf products couldn’t. Sandfield was born.
Our foundations of business sensibility and technical sophistication enable a practical and measured approach to all Sandfield solutions and client relationships. Customers don’t want to ‘reinvent the wheel’ so we have frameworks and products that look after common requirements. This approach concentrates more IT spend on innovation and reduces the proportion that’s spent on areas away from the cut and thrust of competitive advantage.
The success of this philosophy has resulted in exciting growth throughout the business. Sandfield operates with specialised business units, intentionally created to focus our expertise and experience in custom development, financial management, integration and supply chain. This approach empowers smaller teams to act with more flexibility, focus and freedom for our client’s business goals. Continuing our ‘Goldilocks’ philosophy of being big enough to take on larger projects but with the nimbleness of a smaller organisation.

Supply chains are in our DNA
Starting with Mainfreight in the late 80s, we have always worked with supply chain-focused businesses across a wide range of industries including: Transport, logistics, shipping, automotive, fresh exports and mining.
Through our thirty year experience working with these business models, we’ve found supply chain management is a fluid discipline that isn’t well suited to being embedded inside a traditional ERP architecture.
A supply chain by its very nature involves different organisations and different systems and our custom approach means we integrate and work around the edges to achieve the outcomes you need to drive growth.
Today, Sandfield is made up of a tight-knit team of more than 140 highly-capable and often quick-witted colleagues; building long-term partnership with some of New Zealand and Australia’s corporates like Mainfreight, Foodstuffs, Green Acres, NZ Thoroughbred Racing, Les Mills, Interislander, Toll, Qube, HWR and more.
Sandfield’s head office is located at 3/130 Ponsonby Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland, New Zealand. Most of our 140+ team members work from the head office, with a small percentage working remotely across the country.
